I have given some thought to this fiasco and there's a few potential scenarios that kinda explain it.
1/ The US wants to starve China of oil. (Cut off supplies from Venezuela and Iran)
2/ The US also wants to kneecap Europe and the Euro as competitors with the dollar
3/ The US wants to maintain strategic dominance by weakening the rest of the planet.
4/ All of the above
5/ The US is currently run by a system that is psychopathic, entitled and narcissistic in nature and doesn't really give a s**t about the rest of the world or even it's own people because the guy who dies with the most toys wins.
The "Unforeseen" or more likely not considered consequences of this thing is that millions of people can't afford to put gas in their car to go to work. Additionally their food costs have gone up by about 20% so far and headed higher.
That's assuming that the trucks that deliver the food can afford the diesel and that they can actually get diesel.
All of which is predicated on farmers being able to access diesel for their tractors to spread the fertiliser to grow their crops. (If they can get it and can afford it..)
In my opinion this whole thing is the most imbecilic and cretinous act ever carried out by the US and there's a long long list of those things.
Trump needs to go.
Make America Great Again. I miss that shining city on the hill, by golly!
Right now, New Zealand has allegedly got about 47 days of diesel and a similar amount of gasoline and jet fuel. This includes deliveries that are on the high seas from South Korea and Singapore. If supply from the Middle East worsens the Asian suppliers may cut deliveries.
Supplies in hand are around 20-30 days so not a lot of wiggle room.
All of this is compounded by the fact that New Zealand shut down its only oil refinery and filled the pipes with concrete so it could not be reopened. (Don't you just love the Green Party) (Muppets..!! LOL )We actually produce oil and gas here but most of it gets exported.
There was a proposal to convert lignite coal into fuel and petroleum products a few years ago. The company was prepared to cover all the investment but That Clean Green image got in the way...It is really really DUMB STUFF.
Right now people are buying groceries using Afterpay because their credit cards are maxed out.
I am going to bail out. I am in the final stages of negotiations for 5.2 acres of jungle in Costa Rica.
Good to hear from you. Take care and hopefully we can meet up in person one day soon. Take care JD.
Astounding how malicious and stupid our “leaders” can be, especially in such a lovely place. My son is going to Australia and New Zealand next month, and plans to return the first week of June. I hope there’s enough jet fuel for him to get back. Good luck on the move to Costa Rica. Another beautiful place, hopefully with a little less idiocy. Thanks again for the update.
In yesterday's world, the greatest defense America had was the two (2) oceans that kept other powers at bay. That is no more - China's nuclear missile can hit the U.S. from every directing including from the South Pole. The U.S. has no "Iron Dome and from what is said of their missiles intercept is more of a challenge that ever before. So, as these missiles become more common place (seems everyone wants a nuclear weapon these days), U.S. military power will continue to pale and loses its "all mighty" status. And, worst, the U.S. dollar will lose it status. So how do us peons prepared?
Irked that Europeans didn’t rush to help clean up their mess, the Trump team created a pretext to seal Hormuz themselves. Like George W Bush “abandon[ing] free-market principles to save the free-market system,” the administration is closing the strait in order to open it --love this analogy.
Everything seems to point towards they want this closed for higher energy prices or at least a market response.
At this point they're like a child giving desperate attempts to reason to their parents why they need the expensive item at the mall.
If governments ever acted intelligent, we'd be in real trouble.
Fair point. Their incompetence is often our ally.
{...incompetence...} 🤔🤔🤔
You MUST be joking !!!
Another great thought piece JD.

Great points, Mike, and appreciate the kind words. What’s the current and projected fuel situation in your neck of the woods?

Nothing surprises me any more JD. Hopefully things will have resolved themselves in the Middle East fiasco by the time your son gets here.
Great work JD
Thank you very much.
Somebody said before:
We've met our enemy ...
It's US !!!
What a coincidence ... 🤔🤔🤔
that current events lead straight to the Great Reset with its dreadful "you will own nothing but will be happy".
Welcome to the NWO and the global hunger-games !!!
