Just as darkness is simply an absence of light, the hard economic realities facing We the People are due to the lack of our elected to actually represent our interests and values. Evil prevails when good people do nothing about the march of marxism. Turning a blind eye to years of open borders, H1B, leftist indoctrination in school curriculum, attacks on female spaces, and degrading the integrity of elections have all come home to roost both culturally and economically. Mustering the principle to renew our nation and continue reducing the size and scope of our government must be the goal. Let's refocus on its reason for being in protecting rights and providing for the national defense instead of being a funding mechanism for wasteful tax and spend policies, and tolerating them!

There's a lot to go at here on both sides of the equation.

In opposition to "Gen Z" and the Millennials: people today overwhelmingly make ridiculously imprudent decisions when spending their money. Look around any large urban area and count how many of Millennial or "Gen Z" age are covered in tattoos nowadays, for example. Look also at the number of frequent consumers of narcotics among the same generations. The majority of these two generations does not exactly exemplify the traits of prudence and sound judgement when it comes to budgeting.

Then again, to be blunt: the Baby Boomers are uniquely abhorrent in that they are the first generation en masse to live completely and utterly for themselves, with total disregard in many cases for future generations' well-being. Speak to nearly all Boomers, and they'll insist that they earned off their own backs with no outside influences whatsoever their cushy retirement with a mortgage-free abode now worth ten times in fiat currency units what it was when they first got onto the property ladder. That same ignorant smugness is what allows them to justify spending their retirement provision on cruises around the Med or Caribbean four times a year and eating out four days a week - this, on top of having a state pension paid for out of the taxes of income of those still working, even though these Boomers still insist their state pension is owed to them by the taxes they paid in throughout the years.

Essentially, it boils down to the world now being the domain of Modern Mass Man, with no spiritual enlightenment and no regard for traditional virtue of any sort. There will be a reckoning one day.

Excellent explanation of the varied reasons why many young and not-so-young people are frustrated, even angry with their financial circumstances.

No wonder we're witnessing a growing appeal of socialism among the young in the US.

Its advocates simply do not regard socialism for what it is: a failed system of producing and allocating wealth.

Instead, they view it as a government reincarnation of Robin Hood: They want the government to snatch gobs of the astounding sums that have been amassed by ultra-wealthy and give it to them somehow, someway.

Today's youth simply do not appreciate the difference between Capitalism, Socialism, Communism and Fascism

The former is how wealth is created; the latter three are means by which it is distributed

Even socialists, fascists and communists have to engage in capitalism to produce wealth for their government apparatchiks to distribute. Briefly, no capital; no wealth

The easy shorthand: For anyone anywhere to produce wealth, four ingredients are necessary. They are Time, People, Material, Capital.

But the catalyst is a risk taker; that is, someone must assemble these prerequisites and use them to make something or some service that is sold for more than it cost to produce.

The difference is wealth (aka "profit").

History has made abundantly clear that governments which provide vibrant Free Markets allow people to produce and distribute wealth far, far better than governments that control the means of production and distribution.

The USSR tried for seventy years to create a workers paradise. I was there when it failed. Literally. I was in Leningrad when the Soviet Union collapsed (and in Moscow days later. Amazing times).

So it makes me sad to read about fringe portions of the Democratic Party peddling socialist palaver. Better this political party proselytize wealth-making; not wealth-taking.

Most will fall (be pushed) off the cliff when the Great Taking starts ...

NO mistakes were made, it's virtually ALL by design !!!

That last chart of our last 10 Presidents was quite interesting. I live in one of the capital places of Burrito heaven, that is New Mexico. No one can make a burrito without a small profit, that's my take on the subject...

Interesting, but what is causing rent and home ownership to be so high? Increasing property taxes (govt taking more and more money for all their “free” stuff) and Insurance rates. What has young people swamped in debt early in life is the cost of those silly college degrees for jobs that don’t pay a good ROI. Those who get lucrative engineering degrees are not becoming socialists, those with BA and MA humanities degrees, huge student loan debt and low paying teacher and sociology type jobs are the ones complaining. Before kids can take a student loan they should have to sign off on an amortization schedule and the average pay for their field of study. It’s not the cost of buying a house, my 18 year old, recently graduated high schooler, almost has enough down payment for a house because wages have increased significantly the last several years. But what kills us is the yearly local property taxes that will be an additional $5,000-$10,000 every year.
