“Your universe has no meaning to them. They will not try to understand. They will make a fire with your beautiful oak door...”
- The Camp of the Saints
In 732, Charles Martel repelled the Moors at the Battle of Tours. For a hundred years, the Mohammedans had rolled across Africa, thru Spain, and into France. At Tours, “the Hammer” pushed them back.
For almost a dozen centuries, they mostly stayed over the Pyrenees and across the Alps. But after France’s Algeria fiasco… and especially the last couple decades…Martel’s descendants unrolled a red carpet for many Muslims who wanted to come in. Recently, the carpet became a conveyor belt.
Up in Smoke
Across France, in parts of Italy, and other pockets of Europe, more remnants of the West are going up in smoke. Its “leaders” have spent decades importing the arsonists.
Saturday, these arrivals and their offspring joined disgruntled leftists to light more matches. They set ablaze the Limoges Hôtel de Ville, a gorgeous Renaissance revival structure opened more than 140 years ago, inspired by its counterpart in Paris.
This magnificent edifice survived both World Wars, but it couldn’t overcome this weekend’s goons. Most of the building is completely gone, with the mob cheering as the tower collapsed.
In Paris, Lyon, Marseilles, Bordeaux, and smaller communes, malcontents overtook large swaths of cities. The uprisings are euphemized as “cost-of-living protests” that started as complaints by French students.
I’m sure French students are fed up. Like anyone enduring indebted governments, corrupt currencies, and systematic theft, why wouldn’t they be? But I doubt they ransacked Hermès to grab school supplies or get cheaper food. Even so, cost-of-living keeps going up, and the inflation that propels it (and the anger it produces) isn’t going away.
High prices may have been the impetus for the initial demonstrations, even if demonstrators had no idea what caused the problem. But that’s not the essence of what exploded this weekend. These aren’t “protests”, and many of the ruffians appear to be neither students nor French.
Obviously, the usual opportunists will join a fray to get in on the looting. But what we’re seeing resembles more of a war: a civilizational clash choreographed by traitorous bureaucrats and malicious politicians, who sacrificed their heritage on a pyre of suicidal empathy and self-disdain.
Much of the carnage comes from Antifa thugs, communist agitators, and Middle Eastern and African intruders who should never have been allowed into France. Yet French rulers not only invited them, they aggressively imported them… like a flock of sheep welcoming packs of wolves.
As in Germany, Ireland, Sweden, the Netherlands, Britain, and much of the rest of erstwhile Europe, it’s as if the Incas begged Pizarro to come to Peru. Now the conquistador is here… and he’s burned the boats, while taking a torch to everything else.
Over the weekend, the uprising spread into Italy. We were in Milan less than a week ago. Yesterday rioters surrounded the Duomo. The Galleria was evacuated to protect the shops. Water cannons, tear gas, and shattered glass filled the air. Sidewalk tables became barricades, and were set on fire. Diners were confined to the rooftop restaurant where we recently ate.
Parts of this lovely city have become a battlefield. Today, guerrilla war continues to rage. Second-generation migrants (often, as in France, described by the press as “youths from the suburbs”) and other miscreants rampage central Milan… breaking windows, pillaging shops, and hurling paving stones at police.
Similar scenes broke out in Belgium, Norway, Britain, and the Netherlands. Each features similar tactics, uniforms, and banners. Home country flags are conspicuously inconspicuous.
Around France, shops are looted, businesses burned, men beaten, women molested, and statues smashed. Many culprits are hooded and masked. They vandalize monuments, denigrate French culture, deride Christianity, and subject their “hosts” to public humiliation.
Church Milquetoast
In the Place des Pyramides, barbarians mounted the statue of France’s patron saint, and no one did anything. As a teenage girl, Joan of Arc fought to save her country from foreign invaders. Now French men cower as migrant marauders use her monument as a riot prop.
In the Vatican, the Catholic Church sits idle while one of Her most honored saints is openly defiled. As swarms of savages surrounded Her great cathedrals, some bishops offered stale platitudes about the value of protest and the need to avoid violence. As far as I know, the Holy See has said nothing.
The Church Militant has become the Church Milquetoast. Can anyone imagine Innocent III being silent while millions of Islamists invaded Europe? Would Pius V —the saintly pope who organized a Holy League to fight the Ottomans at Lepanto — do nothing while infidels violated the Eldest Daughter of the Church? Even Alexander VI and Leo X would have the decency to denounce destruction of Catholic art.
While hooligans wreak havoc in Europe, where is Leo? He often defends immigrants and suggests America and Europe have an obligation to accept them.
But has he ever acknowledged the burden migrants impose, condemned any carnage they cause, or expressed empathy for natives who want to preserve their country?
Emigration is a right; immigration is a privilege. Even Vatican II popes acknowledged this. Even Leo acknowledged it: “I think every country has the right to determine who enters, how, and when.”
In his 2010 message for the World Day of Migrants and Refugees, Benedict XVI stated that "states have the right to regulate migration flows and to defend their own frontiers.”
At the same event in 2001, John Paul II noted that
“the exercise of such a right [to immigrate] is to be regulated, because practicing it indiscriminately may do harm and be detrimental to the common good of the community that receives the migrant."
This is obvious. Or should be. These popes were clearly sympathetic to immigration. But they didn’t consider Catholicism a suicide pact that compelled the Faithful to blindly welcome their cultural executioners.
The Camp of the Saints
The battle is existential. When France is erased, it’s not coming back. If Italy is eliminated, there won’t be another one. Same with Ireland, England, Sweden… and the United States.
I recently read The Camp of the Saints by Jean Raspail. Published fifty-three years ago, the novel depicts an armada of a million Indians sailing inexorably toward France. The final pages of the book read like the script for what we’re seeing unfold.
For fear of being called nasty names, and to convey ideological purity and moral superiority, the Republic’s rulers did nothing. The West was too overcome with colonial guilt to preserve itself. Because of its supine shame, France was overrun, and soon ceased to exist.
Critics portray the book as (what else?) “racist”, unaware that they’re helping make the author’s point. As Raspail writes, mass immigration “is a new form of modern warfare, where the enemy attacks unarmed, protected by his wretchedness.” Not only can the foe not be fought, he can’t even be criticized.
The vandals ravaging Europe don’t think of defaced monuments, desecrated statues, and burned buildings as travesties; they view them as trophies. But these prizes won’t be placed on a shelf; they’ll go in the bin.
If you import enough of the Third World, that’s what you become. When that happens, as Raspail warned, you “might as well try to seize a river at its estuary and drive it back to its headwaters.”
By then it’s too late. You’ve already drowned. This weekend, the West was reminded how far the water has risen. When enough pours in, the ocean inevitably consumes the boat.

JD, what have we come to?
Between the riots in the streets and the pirates in the White house, where are we to go. I have concluded that even here in New Zealand things have come to an inflection point. The right and the left are neck and neck in the general election in 2 or so weeks.
And here's the rub. It matters not who is elected to power because there is nothing between them in terms of policy. Only depths of implementation.
I read a book once about a commune of Irish hippies who gave up on the world, bought a yacht and sailed it across the Atlantic and then into the Orinoco river. Never to be seen again.
It now seems like a reasonable idea...
Another great article. Thank you my friend.
Welcome to the new world order. I write this nwo in disgust. But what must be must be. I do not have any control, but of Myself.
