A beautiful and moving piece. In such moments, I look to CS Lewis' "The Problem of Pain." We are mortal beings, possessing free will, and subject to the laws of nature. If one of those did not hold, we would not be human. Requiescat in Pace.

You crafted a eloquent eulogy for your cousin, an accomplished woman, whose life was cruelly truncated by a mysterious affliction for which no cure exists.

When I was young, I simply expected that we would all get old then peacefully pass away. Despite now knowing better, my childhood belief has never been entirely eradicated by reality.

Consequently, when young lives end, I'm always saddened. But, as you poignantly observed, your cousin's life endures in the legacy she left and, for the rest of your days, in your fond memories of her.
