Another brilliant submission by the incomparable JD.

I had pondered the question "How many people did it take to build that Boeing 747 (my fav plane)?" and came up with the answer "About 100 billion, give or take a billion or ten." That was before I read "I, Pencil".

On a different note, thanks to JD, I looked up the original Oscar Wilde quote: "One must have a heart of stone to read the death of Little Nell without laughing."

The search took me Quote Investigator's piece on that quote. There I learned a new word: "paraprosdokian" -- which the wiktionary defines as "a figure of speech in which the latter part of a sentence or phrase is surprising or unexpected; frequently used in a humorous situation."

The Quote Investigator piece references one Mr Philo Vance.

"In 1935 the London periodical “The Bystander” harshly criticized the fictional sleuth Philo Vance and compared him to Little Nell."

Vance. Where have I heard that name recently? Ah, yes. Mr JD Vance, the VP of the United States. JD? That's our esteemed author. What a web of connections we weave when we first practice to deceive. :)
