Very good read, thank you JD. "Debt, war, surveillance, and biomedical control are real outrages. Yet few of Trump’s critics ever moan about those, choosing instead to fret over sideshows."
Yup. Hayek's work flashed across my mind...in his 'Road To Serfdom' book, Ch. 10, Why The Worst Get On Top', your article captured it succinctly. Thank you.
Thnx JD! Here's my contribution yesterday on the dark MAGA Lords that have taken over the WH asylum. I go after Bourla too. That clip of him in '21 that you linked I've never seen before. He's calling us criminals for exposing him in his criminality. Wow, that's rich with hypocrisy.
Right about Trump whose many failings now include his tariffs. To date, they have resulted in a documented 1% reduction in US output. But you're off base about USAID.
Until its chaotic demise by Musk and his teeny-boppers, USAID had one of the smallest Federal budgets among Federal agencies.
We need its "soft power." Its laudable mission is to save lives (unlike the largest consumer of annually appropriated dollars--the War Department--which has never, ever had its spending audited)
Undocumented immigrants: I understand the ire people have that they are not here by invitation, but they're here.
It's not their fault that our borders were, and no doubt in many sections, remain porous.
If their only crime is they are "undocumented," then why not create a means for those who meet lofty standards to become documented (e. g., a record of remitting Federal, state and local taxes; laudable work history; no legal missteps; establishing businesses; military service; church/community endorsements, etc)?
We let out of jail untold miscreants, including murderers, often because our jails are simply too full, but we want to aggressively expel all undocumented immigrants. Go figure.
I contend an exception should be made for those who have made laudatory contributions to their communities and to our country, one founded by generations of immigrants none of whom were approved to reside here.
You make some fair points, and probably some unavoidable ones since it’s logistically is likely impossible to remove all illegals anyway. As to overcrowded jails, that’s mostly a function of too many nonviolent and noninvasive activities being classified as “crimes.” Thanks as always for the feedback.
Politics are per normal. Just different names and dates .So sad!
Yep
