"The Constitution designates the president as Commander-in-Chief only after Congress declares war, so the president has no authority to unilaterally deploy troops.
...my son pledged to defend the Constitution. He shouldn’t have to risk his life because the politicians he serves decided to violate the same oath."
I feel for you JD. I have similar fears for my son in the UK. He's not in the military but is of conscription age, so yes I worry too.
I will pray for your son and your family as well as for a rapid close to this idiotic, stupid, stupid war.
Thank you, Mike. And I pray for you and your son too.
A most astute observation:
"The Constitution designates the president as Commander-in-Chief only after Congress declares war, so the president has no authority to unilaterally deploy troops.
...my son pledged to defend the Constitution. He shouldn’t have to risk his life because the politicians he serves decided to violate the same oath."
