Well, people from the "Global South" ARE different ...👍👍👍 🥰🥰🥰

JD Breen's avatar

This woman certainly was.

It's amazing how, when in the "West", a genuine "Global Southerner" by behaving entirely "normal", shines like a freshly-polished beacon among the people who have been accustomed to a state of permanent dullness and negativity ...

Brazilians are renowned for their high-spirits in general ...

Maybe, next family-trip over there is worth a thought ...

LOTS of verdant colors in their flag too !!!😉😉😉

Amid all the negatives in this world there that bright shining Light! Thanks for sharing Mr. Breen.

My spirits were buoyed after reading your recitation of Amy thoughtfully and amiably fulfilling her responsibilities.

Reminds me of the old joke about the irrepressible youngster whose constant cheerful demeanor worried his father

He decided be better teach his son that the world was mean and that people were cruel.

So, while his always peppy son, -- who had never met a stranger -- was at school, his father filled his son's bedroom with a massive amount of manure, almost to the rafters.

Positive that this would cause his son to realize people can be very cruel, he was astounded by his son's reaction

He didn't say a world. Instead, he started shoveling the manure out his bedroom window like he was possessed.

When his father demanded he stop if just to catch his breath, his son said he couldn't.

He excitedly told his father, "With all this manure in here, there's bound to be a pony in this room for sure!"

Clearly, this youngster and Amy's must be kin.

Agree about him being her kin. Thank you for the nice comments and the welcome humor.

That is really funny! Thanks for posting it.

Delightful story. Thank you.

Happy people make other people happy. I believe that one's disposition is as much a random draw as one's height or intelligence though there are systematic differences among groups. People of certain religions (for example, Jainism) are more peaceful than others. I've noticed that Buddhists are happier than average.

I also believe that the world is getting happier.

I hope you're right about the world getting happier. This lovely woman certainly was. More of us should emulate her.

Another example of how beautiful and happy people can be when working a job they were meant to do, are passionate about and love. It’s a rare thing to find today, but such a pleasure when found 😊

JD Breen's avatar

Completely agree. Part of what made this so noteworthy.

We had utterly clear blue skies today above Raleigh.

Great story.

I flew Delta from Heathrow to Houston and the crew were amazing.

Having once worked for Delta, that's great to hear.
