Given recency of events in this essay, I'm reluctant to conclude the series I started last Fall. But to what'll doubtless be my retrospective regret, I decided to finish butchering this bull.
I'm glad you overcame your reluctance to complete this, JD. The covid story (which certainly did its bit to damage my family) can't be told often enough. It may take decades, centuries, millennia -- but I do believe humanity will learn. Every bit of truth-telling helps.
Thank you for this. The covid response damaged me and my family too. That was the primary impetus to complete this history. I couldn't omit the most important part of the story (which unfortunately seems to keep getting worse). Thanks again for your nice note.
You produced a sad recollection of errors all of which had massive deleterious effects.
They remind me of the aphorism, "Power corrupts; Absolute power corrupts absolutely"
And now the US is collapsing slowly then probably quickly
Foremost because its leaders, all elected by its citizens, refuse to abide by its constitution which, sadly, contains a grievous flaw: it lacks a requirement to balance the Federal budget.
This omission -- along with Congress funding wars never declared paid by wealth that doesn't exist -- will unravel what was once fifty states United and destroy a dollar once the world's preferred currency.
It's always reassuring to know that in Atlanta, GA sits a person who's well read, thoroughly informed about history, has a beautiful mind and lets us share his thoughts in his SS ... 👍👍👍 🎯🎯🎯 !!!

The future is worrisome.

Your analysis is as depressing as it is accurate. The only relief comes from recognizing the truth that this too shall pass. Thank you.
Yes it shall pass and nobody will learn from this history. Such is the ways of mankind.
